Migraine headaches are different from typical headaches. They tend to be much more severe, and they can even be debilitating for sufferers. Migraines are usually concentrated to one side of the head. Patients with migraines experience intense pulsing or throbbing pain, along with nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, and sensitivity to sound. The attack may last for only a few hours, or it may persist for days. Some patients also experience warning signs before the migraine begins. These signs may include tingling, blind spots in the vision, mood changes, or flashes of light.
What Causes Migraines?
Scientists believe that migraines occur because of a combination of genetic and environmental factors. People who experience migraines may be more likely to have an attack following certain triggers, such as changes in sleep patterns, hormonal changes, sensory stimuli, emotional or physical stress, or consumption of certain foods. Women are more likely to have migraines than men.
How Can Dr. Casab Help Patients with Migraines?
Chiropractic care may be beneficial to patients who experience frequent migraine headaches. For example, massage techniques can help to alleviate tension and stress, which may reduce the frequency or intensity of migraines. Manipulation of the spine may also address problems with alignment that can contribute to the development of migraines. Dr. Casab can treat patients who are experiencing a migraine at the time of the session, as well as those patients who want to reduce the likelihood of future migraines.
Can Chiropractic Care Cure Migraines?
Many patients who undergo chiropractic care for migraine headaches will experience fewer migraines and/or migraines with less pain. Some patients may notice an improvement immediately, while others may need multiple treatment sessions to experience relief. If the patient doesn’t experience results in a reasonable amount of time, Dr. Casab will alter the treatment plan accordingly.
